Hello all-
great day of hawk watching today! i saw
17 black vultures
42 Turkey vultures
2 sharp shinneds
2 red tailed hawks
and 22 northern harriers. Interesting note ont the harriers. there was a
big cluster of them flying together in a manner similar to vultures. I
counted 21! I am 99.5% positive that they were in fact northern hattiers
because i could positively see the distinctive white rump patch on at leat
three of the birds. They were flying so high in the sky, that i happened
only to see them in a cloud through my binoculars. I read that they fly
in groups of only 5 or so, but i am virtually positive that i saw a group
of 21 together this afternoon. I would be interested in hearing what
other people have to say about this--let me know please.
