Hi Folks,
Yesterday evening, I spotted what I believe to have been a short-eared owl
in my headlights as I was heading home. It appeared very tawny, awkward
looking, and was in a low, horse pasture near a creek bed. Once I had
passed it, I backed up, and spotted it with a flashlight. I was able to get
another short view at a sizeable, tawny, streaked owl, just as it flew into
the woods. I never heard it vocalize. It was larger than a Screech Owl,
and too light, and small to be a GHO. I have not been able to relocate it
since.
