Hi,

I think your trees have powdery mildew, not anthracnose. Powdery Mildew
will appear as a dry gray powdery substance that make the leaves shrivel
and turn a red/brown. Dogwoods are very prone to this, but it usually does
not hurt them. Anthracnose is a disease that will kill entire branches
fairly quickly. I have read about this disease, but never actually
experienced it.
