Arul Maa Kadal of Thiru
SiRu Puliyoor Dhivya Desam *******************************************************************
In the ninth Paasuram ,
Kaliyan suggests that he parted
company with the charming
ladies known for their beauty
( Malark-kaNNAr MadavAr )
because of his unquenchable
love for the Dhivya MangaLa
vigraham of the Lord , which
is the bhOga sthAnam for MahA
Lakshmi :
Karu Maa muhil UruvA !
Kanal UruvA ! Punal UruvA !
Peru-mAl varai uruvA ! PiRa
uruvA ! ninathu uruvA !
ThirumAmahaL Maruvum SiRu
PuliyUr Sayanatthu
Aru-mA-kadal-amudhE !
unathadiyE SaraNAmE
(Meaning ) : Oh Lord with a body having the
hue of a large ,
dark rainy season 's cloud ! Oh Lord
who is the antharyAmi
of Agni ! Oh BhagavAn having water ( Jalam
) as Your body !
Oh Prabhu with gigantic mountains as Your
Sareeram !
Oh Lord dwelling inside Vaayu as its
antharyAmi Brahman !
Oh Lord known for Your uniquely auspicious
ThirumEni ,
which is amenable for meditation
(SubhAsraya ThirumEni) !
Oh Nectar , who arose out of
a rare and huge ocean
and who is enjoyed with great love by MahA
Lakshmi ! Your
sacred feet alone are my UpAyam and UpEyam
( Means
and goal for the PurushArTam of MOksham ) .
Special Notes
:
********************
In this Paasuram ,
Kaliyan recognizes the Lord as the antharyAmi
( indweller ) of pancha
bhuthams like Agni ( Kanal UruvA ) , Vaayu .
AakAsam , Earth ,
appu ( Punal
UruvA ) and of achEthanams like
the mountains ( Peru Maal
varai UruvA ) ; Kaliyan also compares Him
with some objects like
the dark , bluish-black cloud of
the rainy season !
He is not only the antharyAmi
of some vasthus
but also resembles them .
Kaliyan enjoys the Lord's own
, unmatched SubhAsra ThirumEni ( Ninathu
UruvA ) . Since The EmperumAn
of SiRu PuliyUr is enjoyed in so many
ways , He becomes the nectar
arising out of a rare ocean .
The limitless auspicous
attributes of the Lord's ThirumEni (Sacred body)
is referred to in this
Paasuram as " Karu Maa Muhil UruvA " . The manifestation
of the JagadhAdhAra tatthvam
( being the foundation of the world) is recognized
as " Kanal UruvA
". Alternatively ,
for His enemies , His body is a scorching one
like Agni . For His devotees
, His body is cool and comforting like a cool pond
( Punal Uru) . His ease of
access by all and simplicity inspite of His unamtched
greatness are characterized
by HIs Soulabhya and Souseelya GuNams .These
noble traits are saluted
with the name of " PiRa uruvA " . The fact that His
body
alone has Subham +
aasrayathvam ( SubhAsrayam ) is saluted by Kaliyan as
" Ninathu UruvA
" . The
PirAtti at SiRu PuliyUr has the name of ThirumAmahaL .
She sits on the vast and
beautiful chest of the Lord and enjoys Her union
with Him immensely . He
Himself arose out of a rare and gigantic ocean as
the nectar like His PirAtti
rose from the Milky Ocean as " PeNNamuthu ".
He is the Amudhu ,
AarAvamudhu . He is the nectar , which arose out of
the Para VAsudEva roopam
. This nectar enjoys the other nectar that
arose from the milky ocean
during the churning of it by Himself .
Thirumangai performs his
SaraNAgathy to the dhivya Dampathis of
SiRu PuliyUr with the
submission : " Unathu adiyE SaraNAmE " .
AdiyEn has no gathi other
than You . " Puhal onRumilA adiyEn
Ninnadi puhunthEnE " . Your
sacred Thiruvadi is both UpAyam
and UpEyam for adoiyEn .

Kaliyan of Thirumangai has

the Lord of SiRu PuliyUr ,
their sins will be destroyed and Narakams
will not enter into
