Respected Sir,

While browsing the net, I happen to come across an article which said that in South India, oil bath is taken on the morning of Naraka Chaturdasi day.  It tied this practice to the killing of Naraka on this  day.  Soon after, I ran into another article that said that the South Indian custom is to take oil bath on Diwali day (New Moon day)  before sunrise.   Are there several customs in practice? If so, which groups observe the former custom and which groups observe the latter custom?

Appreciate your clarification of the practices.

Thank you
Regards
Sabitha
