Dear SvAmi,
Any temple will have main deities and others
also. The main deities are worshipped with ThriuvArAdhanam as per Agamic
procedures whereas other deities are not done so.This is applicable to all
temples including Thriuvarangam and ThriuvallikkEANi.
Now coming to the point of ThiruchERai, this
particular vigrham is placed just before the entracne to the mUlavar sannidhi
alongwith AzhwAr AchAryAs and Sri Gopalan.
This is not very bad as you had described and to
get attention on a daily basis but definitely no special worship like the
main deity.
Perhaps. if some sponsor come forward, a
special pUjA can be envisaged on monthly thirunakshathiram of
punarvasu.
I do not belong to this divya-dEsam but nithya
kainkaraym-s have been organised by collections from devotees by The
SarakshEthra samrakshaNa sabha -Sri SSS Sabha.
This is my observation. The relative attention
given to the deiteis here is far far far better.
This is my humble opinion after
observation.

Adiyen like to inform that there is Shri Rama vighraham
in Tirucheri Temple, which is unique shilpam kind.
Shri Ramar went
to forest with dress code of marauri(simple dress which will helpful in
forest). My father was explaining that this may be the only vighraham of
shri rama represent this style in Tamilnadu. You can see preceise
representation in the shilpam of Shri Rama, his hair is not trimmed
because he is forest.
You can see the whole beauty of shri rama than
any other place.
As alwar's narration "thiru kanden, pon mani
kanden", you can see the Shri Rama Pon mani in your own eyes. There is
no word to explain the beauty and divine image.
But the Sad part
is, this Rama shilpam is not receive any aradhana and kept in a dark
place with lot of other collection of shilpams. Not surprise or
No wonder, Shri Rama went only forest for 14 years to comply
the father's instruction, But we the Indians maintain our silence to
keep the Shri Rama in jail even in his birthplace more than decades.
This Rama statue may get his turn by my great grand children time,
who knows.
