Dear Vedantins, Pranams! In one of the programmes in Kannada Doordashan, a vendantin when answering a question on Urdhva Pundra dharana said that "they resemble Lord Pada and in fact the three verticle lines resembles padas of trimurthys" While I understand it is partly true (not padas of trimuthys although, as the two lines resembles Lord's padas and the middle resembles Lakshmi), he further wondered that while he urdhva pundrams on a devotee, why should Lord is also shown sporting Urdhva Pundram. Can someone kindly let me know the reason as to why Lord and his bhakthas(Anjaneya etc.,) sport urdhva pundram. As far as pramanam goes there are aplenty that Krishna sports Kasturi tilakam etc., but what is yukthi behind this. Is it because Lord likes what his bhakthas like and decorate himself as his bhakthas decorate. Regards sukumar Yahoo!
