Dear Sriman Vythilingam :
it is not proper to continue to worship
a archA Vigraham ( Uthsavar or Moolavar ) if
there is a damage is experienced due to willfulness
or accident .
Some times archakAs cause the damage due to
carelessness or fear of the Ugra Nature of the Moorthy.
In the case of Ugra kalai of the Moorthy , the ill-advised
archaka takes a chistle and breaks a nail or finger
and thus removes the power of the Moorthy . Although , he
suffers , the saanidhyam ( presence ) is gone.
Cases in point are : Narasimha Moorthys at ThirukkOshtiyUr ,
Sudarsana Bhaghavaan at KumbakONam ( a golden nail
was hammered into the chin of that Moorthy to cause damage) ,
AkhilANDEswari at ThiruvAnaikkA , where Adhi Sankara
prayed for the reduction of Ugra Kalai and placed a
consecrated vigraham of Her son ( GaNapathy ) to reduce
the ugram aspect . Another case is that of Ugra Narasimhar
at Thiruvananthapuram temple , where archakAs fearing
the ugra kalai of the Lord conspired to remove it by
wilful damage of the nail and then restored the power .
These days , Bhagavaan is "afraid " of the ugra kaalai
of the temple servants and would like to run off !
There are cases like ThiruveLLUr , where the Moola Moorthy
suffered a damage in the right elbow and appeared in the dream of
Sri Ahobila Matam AchArya and complained about His pain .
That worried AchArya inspected the hand/elbow and
"repaired " the damage , reconsecrated the Moolavar for
regular worship . One can pull out the powers of the ArchA
Vigraham in BaalAlayam , repair the damges and then have a reinvocation of
power ceremony . Same thing happened to
Uthsavar Andal at Sri VilliputthUr ( Peetam got losse)
and was fixed and reconsecrated . Aagamaas permit such
steps in case of damages . In the case of Saaligrama
shilAs alone , the Lord resides permanently even if
some damage happens .
Covering with a kavacham and going on as if
nothing happened is not right . If you need any
additional help in restoring the situation so
that the Lord has Saanidhyam ( Divine presence ) ,
please consult with the PaancharAthra Aagama expert ,
Sri Seemaa Bhattar of South Maada St , Chinna Kaanchipuram .
He is the heriditary archakar of Lord VaradarAja of Kaanchi.
The other source for help is the PaancharAthraa aagamaa
experts at Melkote Temple in KarnAtakA .
