Swamy Deshikan Thiruvadigale Sharanam !!!

Today at Thuppul Swamy adornes the Paravasudeva alankaram in the morning.

Following is the english translation of a verse composed on our mighty Deshikan
by one of the poorvacharyas. This verse extols Swamy Deshika on the same lines
as extoling the Supreme Para Vasudeva.

He whose eyes shine like the Sun and the Moon

Adorn him we do, on the preceptoral lotus throne

At his divine lotus feet, while we supplicate

Pray we for nothing, but, a glance with his eye on left

The two beautiful eyes of our Swamy are compared to the Sun and the Moon. They
are indeed bright and shine forth with lustre due to his immense Brahma jnanam.
His eyes are indeed powerful as they have the capacity to free one of all his
sins and to make him adopt the path of self-surrender. One benevolent glance
with his eyes stand no match even for glances with three eyes of Rudra, eight
eyes of Brahma or even a thousand eyes of Indra (Ref. Subhashitaneevi of Swamy
Deshika).

We indeed adorn this great an acharya of ours on the preceptoral lotus throne.
We now enjoy his beautiful posture with his fingers on the right hand adorning
the jnanamudra while his left hand enshrines the Srikosham. After enjoying this
beautiful panorama, we supplicate at his divine lotus feet in an act of
self-surrender. Doing so, we pray for nothing but just one benevolent glance
with his left eye.

The first three lines convey quite a beautiful intent but the charm of the
verse lies in the last line. The poet's imagination is indeed most beautiful.
Our Swamy's eyes here are compared to the Sun and the Moon, like Sriman
Narayana. He is here imagined to be seated on a beautiful lotus. A glance with
the left eye would mean that the moon's cool glances are being shed upon the
Lotus. A lotus blooms with the rays of Sun falling upon it and at the same time
closes itself with the rays of the Moon falling upon it. This way, it is
intended that while we are imploring at his divine feet, the lotus should close
in and make us eternal prisoners at his lotus feet, so much so that even if one
wishes to come out of it, it should not be possible to do so.
