Project History
History of The Walker Percy Project
Overview
Founded in 1995, The Walker Percy Educational Project (also identified as "The Walker Percy Project") was formally incorporated in Louisiana as a not-for-profit organization in March 1997. In September 1997, the organization received 501(c)3 tax-exempt status from the IRS. The Project's Master Plan reflected multiple programs focused on developing online materials and discussion opportunities. In 2016, in celebration of the centennial of Walker Percy's birth, The Project enacted a major redesign and website content expansion. In March 2017, The Walker Percy Project ceased operations as a formal organization, however, continuing its programs through ongoing volunteer efforts.
