Arrival:

We will be heading up to the lake on Thursday, June 17th (after work). We will spend the morning and early afternoon of Friday, June 18th going to the grocery and readying the boats and beds. If you're going to show earlier than 2PM on Friday, let us know when so we'll be sure to be there. After 2PM Friday we will have someone at the house guaranteed.

(If you want to take the whole day off Friday and meet us there Thursday night, that's cool too, but you'll have to haul shit and help get things ready.)

Dinner Friday night will be pretty fluid—sandwiches and soup on the stove—but it'll be ready around 7 or 8PM, if you're aiming.

The House:

The Lake House™ was conceived-of by Katherine's father, Rocky "Legend of the Something-or-other" English, and built over a period of nearly 20 years. The entire family, plus many of their close pals, chipped in to haul lumber, nail boards, paint walls and put in floors. It is Rocky and Judy's dream house, and one that they built not just to enjoy themselves, but to share with their family and friends.

The house itself is a Lincoln Log A-frame, with wrap around decking, a separate garage/storage/amazing shop, and (new this summer!) a sun-room where once there used to be a door to nowhere. (Ok, I'm really going to miss the door to nowhere. It was so cool.)

There are three floors in the main house -- ground floor, upstairs, and the basement.

Bedrooms will be doled out on the basis of arrival and need. See rsvp for info about sleeping arrangements.

The house has a DVD/VCR, stereo, and satellite cable. There is not, however, DSL/cable modem or long distance service, so bring laptops, phone cards, or cel phones if you must have connectivity.

The phone number at the house is: 434-374-2415.

Pets:

Bascha will be bringing her cat (who loves the lake and is the official House Mouser, endorsed by Rocky himself). Brian will be bringing the kitten Phee. Sam, Katherine's Welsh Corgi, loves the lake more than any other place on earth and will be joining us. Other pets are welcome as long as they are well-behaved, up-to-date on their vaccinations and healthy, and can be kept under control. Let us know ahead of time if you are bringing your pets so we can make sure to have room for everyone.

Behavior:

As always, the standard rules apply. Obviously, the hosts also reserve the right to send ANY ONE home at ANY TIME.

Departure:

We will be leaving the lake Tuesday, June 22nd, sometime around 5PM.

RSVP

RSVP to bascha@ibiblio.org and katann46@yahoo.com.

Because we'll need to make some preparations, we'd like to know pretty definitely whether or not you'll be there. Let us know by June 7th if you can make it, and if you cancel on us after the 11th, there better be a dead body involved.

The sooner you can RSVP, the better -- for you, we mean. Space in the house is limited, and the earlier you let us know, the more likely it is you'll sleep in a real bed. Last one in snoozes on the air mattress with the "extra lovin' nubbin".

No, seriously.

Bold indicates the quarters are still available. Because we haven't been to the lakehouse yet this summer, it is possible that some rooms may not be furnished as listed below. But we will do our best to accommodate everyone, so sign up now! ;) (But we'll also post updates once we've made a good survey of this year's progress.)

The sleeping quarters fall out like so:

People currently unassigned:

There will be three air mattresses in the house, all queens. They can go in most any place they will fit, and each sleep two. Claim an air mattress if you need one when you rsvp. The nubbin is on one of the mattresses and the last one to claim a mattress gets it. You're welcome to request the nubbin, but we might look at you strangely.

If you mail us to say you're coming, you definitely want to call your sleeping quarters. Feel free to band together and use a group vote to ensure your placement; including a second or possibly third choice is a good idea. Any conflicts will be resolved by some sort of democratic accounting. Or we'll thumb wrestle. Whatever. We'll post room assignments to these pages as they go out, so what's bold above should be what's available.

So, When Do We Eat?

It's sort of the same deal for mealtimes. As everyone knows, this trip is potluck, and we've learned a few things from last time. Read up and let us know when and what you would want to make, who you want to cook with, and what items you can bring for the daily luncheons and general snackitude. More about this on the menu page.

We're really looking forward to this and hope everyone can make it!
