Dear all
I would just like to check with the great minds on this list whether there is any possibility at all that the relative pronoun hWi in 1Peter3:19 can refer to SARX (v.18)? I don't think there is (the gender of hWi, neut/masc, agreeing with PNEUMA, neut, rather than SARX, fem), but would just like to check with you to be certain.
The way I understand it, EN hWi has PNEUMA as its antecedent in the previous verse. Then QANATWQEIS MEN SARKI ZWiOPOIHQEIS DE PNEUMATI EN hWi KAI TOIS, etc. would mean something like "killed physically, but raised to life in the spirit in which (the latter, i.e. spirit) he also ... to those, etc."
Regards
Manie van den Heever
