For Romans 1:5 I've noticed translators vary quite a bit on the handling of
this phrase in context...EIS UPAKOHN PISTEWS. I'm having a hard time
understanding how so much can be inserted into the preposition here by some
versions. The NKJ & KJV both translate it "for obedience to the faith"
whereas the NIV says "to call people...to the obedience that comes from
faith" and the NAS says "to bring about the obedience of faith".
Without diverting to a wide array of theological things, are there grammars
that show EIS may be interpreted this way...or is this contextually driven
by some factor I'm not picking up on? Help !?!
