In the 1st book of the Iliad line 104 the dative of the 3rd person personal
pronoun is used in this way (I think).
OSSE DE hOI PURI LAMPETOWNTI EIKTHN.
"and his eyes were like blazing like fire"
Did this come into disuse in Koine?

Ps. Sorry to have to ask an English Grammar question but could you explain
the difference between 'adnominal' and 'pronominal'? The scant entries in the
dictionary weren't of much help to me.
______

Did what come into disuse in Koine? The dual? It always had a somewhat
limited usage by the very nature of the fact that it pertained to objects in pairs
such as eyes (as in this case). The use of the dative? The dative here is
because of EIKTHN.

I think you know what pronominal means. Adnominal refers to an adjective
used as a noun -- "The Good, the True, the Beautiful." Frequently a noun could
be supplied or understood.
