Richard, look at 1 Co 12:3 ...OUDEIS DUNATAI EIPEIN, KURIOS IHSOUS, EI ME EN PNEUMATI hAGIWi.
Robertson's "Word Pictures" has quite a discussion of this clause, mentioning that Polycarp refused to say KURIOS KAESAR and replied each time with KURIOS IHSOUS.

What I would like to know from the members of this list is this:
Where in the GNT and the LXX do we find nominal sentences similar to
KURIOS IHSOUS CRISTOS that meet the following restrictions:

1) They must NOT contain:
        definite articles
        copula
        pronouns
        adjectives
        participles

2) They may contain:
        proper nouns
        titles
        common nouns

I am not aware of any nominal sentences which meet the above criteria in
the GNT. I don't know about the LXX. I have Bibleworks, but I don't know
how to set up the search.
