Sometimes interlinears also contain parallel versions of the English 
Bible in columns beside the interlinear text, maybe this was a 
convenient way to carry around a GNT, the NIV and the NASB.

I'm not trying to make a case for interlinears, especially not for 
beginners, I'm just trying to point out why someone might find it useful 
even if they have excellent greek.
