The former Joseph Kardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict, insists in his interpretation of Gal 3:28, that hEIS means masculine singular ("einer"), not neuter singular ("eins"). Therefore Church in a strict sense exists only, where a complete identification, a unity in singular happens and the variety of individuals becomes a "one" in Christ, like the first man became "one" with the first women in Gen 2:24 (Ratzinger/Lehmann, Mit der Kirche leben, Freibugr 1977, 28+34). How would unterstand hEIS eV xRISTO?
