All responses to this posting should be OFFLIST to

A very small handful of individuals are looking to
start a "scholarly level Bible study" (but see below)
near Knoxville, TN (Lenoir City / Lake Tellico area).
This is a full-time position.

However, this scholarly level Bible study is actually
to be a church, where the leader of this 'class' will
be the pastor of this congregation. They asked me to
FIRST indicate that it is a 'scholarly level Bible
study' to distinguish it from what they called a
"typical" church service. As it grows (which they have
told me is not their objective, but are certainly open
to others attending), they want it to remain as it
began, as a church, but with a scholarly level Bible
study as its PRIMARY FOCUS and PURPOSE. They believe
this to be the NT local church model. I will add that
my sense is that this will be very much a local church
from the standpoint of being family-friendly, etc.
They just want to overly-stress the deep study as the
point from which all other church-related activities
will flow.

Candidate must have advanced training in NT Greek and
Theology/Bible (Masters level ok, but should be
willing to pursue Ph. D.). The primary "job
description" of this candidate will be to study and
teach. Most other functions in the church will be
performed by other members, thereby freeing the pastor
to study. This is an ideal job for scholar looking to
write books/commentaries/etc.

Class is more than financially able to support
full-time pastor. If you know of interested
individuals, please have them contact their main
contact person at greek at happytears.com, attn: Mr.
Robert Patterson.

Prior approval was received from B-Greek before
posting.

Eddie Mishoe
Pastor
