Thanks Hugh
The books are listed on page 30 of Wallace's book under these
categories, he also says in the footnote for a more detailed discussions see Metzger,
pages 46-52, and standard critical commentaries.
He also says the books are listed in a descending order of purity, thus
Hebrews is more literary then 1 Peter, and Revelation is more Semitic then Mark.
He also says the list is based more on syntax.

Jim,
Congratulations on the vocabulary milestones. Forums
like this will help you not to become complacent.
Thinking on your question made me think of a question
I wanted to ask of the list members. I am traveling
and only have a few books with me, so I will have to
go from memory in asking my question. In Daniel
Wallace's big book on syntax, in the introduction, he
lumps the books of the NT into three categories. I
will list the three as I remember them with a couple
of examples. Vulgar (Mark, Revelation), Conversational
(Matthew, Pauline letters), Literary (Acts, Hebrews, 1
Peter). I was wondering what list members thought of
these categories? I thought of these categories
because they affect how I think of the canon in terms
of difficulty of translation. Thanks.
