CARRBORO – The Carrboro Citizen is now available at more than 175 locations, publisher Robert Dickson announced this week. The free weekly newspaper, launched in March 2007, is now distributing 7,000 papers in Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro and Hillsborough. The current numbers represent a 40 percent increase since the paper’s inception and a 28 percent increase since January 2009.
“We’re so gratified by the reception we’ve received from this community,†said publisher Robert Dickson. “Through some tough economic times, we’ve managed to incrementally edge our circulation numbers up. That’s a tribute to the support of our readers and our advertisers, the folks who make this a truly unique place to live and work.â€
The Citizen has added drops on the UNC campus and is also now available at UNC Hospitals. Typically, 85 percent to 90 percent of the papers are picked up by readers each week. No papers are distributed unsolicited. – Staff Reports
