Carrboro Town Manager Steve Stewart announced on Wednesday that he plans to retire in late summer or early fall of this year.
Stewart, a native of Burlington, has served as town manager since September 2003. He has worked in local government since 1974 and has served as a local-government manager for more than 34 years in communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Stewart expressed his appreciation to the mayor and board of aldermen, town employees and the community for the opportunity to serve the town. He expects to remain a Carrboro resident and looks forward to pursuing other interests following his retirement.
