Méliès is considered a significant pioneer in motion
pictures, credited with inventing the genre of science fiction
with his famous film, A TRIP TO THE MOON, in 1902.
In this short film Méliès as a comic is upstaged
by drunk magician Legris. Enraged, the comic pounds the drunk
through the floor, then seizes a dummy that turns into a dancer
which falls to pieces. After demonstrating his skill as a juggler,
the comic rises through a trap door as a dancer in a tutu.
