To get to Chapel Hill from the east, west,
or south:
Get to exit 270 on I-40, which is Hwy. 15-501
and marked "Chapel Hill". From there, head west towards town.
Stay in the right lane, go about 2 miles and Franklin St. splits
off to the right. Stay on Franklin and go about 2 miles to downtown.
Campus is on your left. (Student Union is left on corner of Raleigh
St. and South Rd., next to the "Pit" student commons area; Raleigh
St. intersects Franklin near the Planetarium- we recommend parking
near Franklin and walking or taking the U-bus which is free and
picks up in front of Schoolkids Records). The Parking Deck Plaza
is on the north side of Franklin, between Franklin and Rosemary
Streets. The Varsity Theater is un-miss-able in the middle of
downtown on Franklin St. Cat's Cradle is another 1.5 miles ahead-follow Franklin St. until it merges with Rosemary St. and turns
into Main St. Carrboro- Cat's Cradle is on your left next to
the ArtsCenter.
Getting to Chapel Hill from the north (Richmond,
DC, NYC) is a little different- you'll want to come in on I-85
South (splits from I-95 near Richmond). In Durham there will be
a left side exit for "15-501/Chapel Hill"- take it and go a few
miles, you'll pass I-40 and then use the directions above.
