Raymond
town in southern Maine, now near Portland, on shore of Sebago Lake, where Hawthorne spent pleasant years of his childhood.
The house is described in Fields's Yesterdays With Authors, May 12, 1870.
Information from pcc@pc2asscs.com (Paul C Colombo): " the house is located at the intersection of Hawthorne and Cape Roads on the web map of Raymond. Yes, the house is still there. The Raymond library has information in its general collection of material. There are also 2 photo books about Raymond for sale at the village library (207.655.4283) called "Raymond Town--Then and Now" by Ernest Knight--the local area historian. The library hours are M & W 3:30-8, Th 9:30-12, Sat 10-4." Also see Ingo Hartig, a local real estate expert.
