The cup was presented by Rear Admiral John Hubbard, Commander, Third Division, U.S. Pacific Fleet (right foreground) on behalf of the Officers and Men of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, in recognition of the courtesies they had received during the "Great White Fleet"'s visit to Japan in October 1908.
Also present, at left (just beyond Admiral Saito) is Japanese
Admiral Count Togo Heihachiro. U.S. Ambassador Thomas J. O'Brien is in the right center.
