Photo #: 80-G-286402 Normandy Invasion, June 1944 An American "Liberty" ship, apparently destined to be sunk as part of a "Gooseberry" breakwater, is pulled into position off "Omaha" Beach by the U.S. Army tug ST-759. This "Liberty" ship is very rusty aft, possibly indicating fire damage. Other vessels in the background include: USS LCI(L)-86 (center); British LCT-930 (right) and British LCT-763 (extreme right). Photograph received by the Naval Photographic Science Laboratory on 21 November 1944. It was actually taken in June of that year.
