Kukum Landing, Guadalcanal
Annotated aerial photograph showing development of the area by
the Japanese, prepared for intelligence purposes prior to the
invasion of Guadalcanal.
The original print came from the USS Wasp (CV-7) photo
lab, dated 4 August 1942, but was undoubtedly taken somewhat
earlier by a long-range aircraft from an Allied South Pacific
base.
The original photograph came from Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison's
World War II history project working files.
U.S. Naval Historical Center Photograph.
