S.S. War Baron
(British Freighter, 1917)

Probably in the vicinity of Portland, Oregon, at the time of her completion, circa mid-1917.
War Baron, the first ship built by the Williamette Iron & Steel Works, of Portland, was constructed on British account. The 13th Naval District inspected her on 29 June 1917. Assigned the Navy ID # 1641, she was still operating under the British flag in December 1917 and was not taken over for U.S. Navy service.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
