"6-inch Cruiser Study ... Scheme 1"

Preliminary design plan prepared for the General Board during an examination of light cruiser designs with the same gun armament as the Cleveland (CL-55) class, but with greater speed and improved protection.
This plan, dated 28 July 1940, is for a 13,300-ton (standard displacement) ship, 680-feet long, with aircraft facilities aft. The cruiser has quadruple torpedo tubes amidships, with an alternate location by the aircraft catapults.
Scale of the original drawing is 1/32" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
