Internal Communications Electrician 2nd Class Forrest, USN
(in service, circa 1973-1975)
IC2 Forrest was involved in the removal of equipment from the
stricken cruiser ex-USS Galveston
(CLG-3) in about 1973-1975. At that time he may have been
assigned to the Naval Amphibious School at Coronado, California,
as the removed items were to be installed in a simulator at the
Surface Warfare Officer School, a part of the Amphibious School.

Removing equipment from ex-USS Galveston (CLG-3)
"IC2 Forrest removing 1 MC Power Supply from ex-Galveston.
The unit will be used to drive the 1 MC sets in the bridge, Combat
Information Center, and after steering mock-ups" at the
Naval Amphibious School's Surface Warfare Officer School simulator.

Removing equipment from ex-USS Galveston (CLG-3)
"Left to right: IC2 Forrest and ET1 Askew disconnecting
a surface search radar repeater from the ex-USS Galveston,
CLG-3. This repeater, along with others will be tied to an AN/SPS
T3 radar simulator and a small computer to supply the variables
like range, bearing and speed. These equipments when used together
will produce a radar picture equal to the real thing." The
items removed from the ship were to be installed at the Naval
Amphibious School's Surface Warfare Officer School simulator.
