Alpha (American Motor Boat, 1911).
Served as USS Alpha (SP-586) in 1917-1919

Alpha, a 56-foot motor pleasure boat, was built at Riverside, Rhode Island, in 1911. She was purchased by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission at that time as USS Alpha (SP-586). For the rest of World War I and some months following the November 1918 Armistice, the craft was employed on patrol service in southern New England waters. She was stricken from the Navy list in May 1919 and sold in late August of that year.

This page features the only view we have concerning the motor boat Alpha, which was USS Alpha (SP-586) in 1917-1919.
