Beaumere II, a 62.5-foot motor pleasure boat, was built at Morris Heights, New York. Formerly named Madge II, and also called Beaumere, she was leased by the Navy in late June 1917 and placed in commission as USS Beaumere II (SP-444) in October of that year. For the remainder of World War I, and for some months after the November 1918 Armistice, the craft was employed on dispatch and passenger service in New York Harbor. She was decommissioned and returned to her owner in February 1919. Under the name Beaumere, she appears to have remained in use as a pleasure craft until the late 1940s.
This page features the only view we have concerning the motor boat Beaumere II, which served as USS Beaumere II (SP-444) in 1917-1919.
