Traveler (American Motor Boat, 1914)
Served as USS Traveler (SP-122) in 1917-1919

Traveler, a 50' 3" motor boat, was built in 1914 at Port Clinton, Ohio, as a civilian pleasure craft. She was based at Miami, Florida, by May 1917, when the Navy took her over for World War I service. Commissioned as USS Traveler (SP-122) in July 1917, she was employed on patrol duties in the vicinity of Key West, Florida, during the remainder of the conflict and in the first months of the post-war era. Stricken from the list of Navy vessels in March 1919, Traveler was destroyed by a hurricane that struck Key West in September of that year.

This page features our only view of the motor boat Traveler, which served as USS Traveler (SP-122) in 1917-1919.
