USS Whitecap (SP-340), 1917-1919

USS Whitecap, a 303-ton patrol vessel, was built at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 1916 as the civilian fishing trawler of that name. The Navy acquired her in late April 1917 and placed her in commission during the following month. For the rest of the First World War, and for some months afterwards, Whitecap was employed on patrol, escort and towing service along the coast of New England. She was decommissioned in March 1919 and returned to her owners at the beginning of April.

This page features the only views we have related to USS Whitecap (SP-340).
