RE: [compost_tea] Re: Best Environmental Technologies?
Currently using comercially produced spent mushroom blocks for worm bedding=
. At present the blocks have to be exposed to heavy winter rains to reduce =
salts and ammend pH. The mushrooms also have an affect of self preservation=
and other microbes are challenged to reproduce and enhance the break down =
of the structure of the block and change the chemistry. Exploring possible =
recipe to make my own material but exclude raising mushrooms. Looking at sa=
w dust, straw, grain meal which has had the oil extracted by heat and eithe=
r calcium sulfate CaSO4 or Ammonium Sulfate ((NH402S04). Wishing I had paid=
more attention in chemistry. My question is regarding the use in organic c=
omposting of one of these sulfates. The recipe thus far comes from internet=
research. Again the goal is to make dark rich OMRI listed worm castings an=
d by-pass the issues of salts and hardness of used spent mushroom blocks. A=
ny comments on how to speed up the break down of the current material is we=
lcomed. When this material is corrected the worms prosper.
Thanks

It's laid out real easy for folks that use the American
unit system. It involves two measurements, speed
and volume.
I was digging your system until I got lost on
pressure/rpm. Is there a leaflet that desribes
that method?
