I agree with Sue. I got too busy this Spring and didn't turn my pile. I u=
sually put an air pipe in the middle so it doesn't get too hot. Upside dow=
n black pots with spacers works.
Anyway, I mixed them so each part would get air, and it smelled bad at firs=
t, which is a great indicator for anaerobic. After a couple of days, it st=
arted to smell earthy and healthier. Just make sure you let it aereate for=
awhile before you make compost tea out of it or put it on plants.
