thanks Steve, we are in New York, Long Island.  We do microscopy quali=
tative assessment of the teas and extracts.  Bacteria tend t=
o look alike under the microscope.  I was looking for real world exper=
ience or cases where the applicator came down with some sickness by inhalat=
ion or perhaps not washing hands after spraying and then eating lunch or wh=
atever.  We also use compost from a reputable source as can be co=
nfirmed to by doing our own field counts under microscope.

post teas?

In the first place, pathogen concerns with compost
teas and extracts have never amounted to an actual
health incident to my knowledge -- whether to
workers applying the material or to consumers
in the foodshed or watershed, but the world
is a big place so it's possible.

Based on first-hand experience working on
broad-scale landscape applications using foliar
sprays of compost extracts and teas that involved
1,000s of man-hours, it's never been an issue.

But I should add that if you're going into commercial
application you should have a full quality control
program that includes lab testing of the compost
substrates and occassional lab testing of your
tea batches.

The bottomline is that compost quality in all
its aspects varies tremendously from source to
source.

Next time post your name, and it helps to know
"where" you live when you ask agricultural
questions.
