The last two and many other messages have a subject unrelated to you topic. Come on ( grin) get with the program !
My opionion is that air is by far the best way to aerate yout tea during a brew, It is also a very convenient, effective and gentle way to circulate the water. Less kill during the brew. It is essential to have the right amount of air to do both but more critical is the amount of air and the right injection of air to separate the microbes from the compost. The right agitation without killing the little fellers. Elain's Goldilocks rule- "not too rough, not too gentle - just right!"
One of the ways to find the amount of air you think you need is from the catalogue?? Look at these findings: All volume measured at 0 psi back pressure. Turns out test and trial seems the only way to find what is needed.
Catalogue rating Actual production of air % of rating
.4 cfm .234 58.6%
.5 cfm .187 .37.5%
.7 cfm 1.736 240%
1.5 cfm 2.431 162%
Those tests explained some problems we have encountered in the past. How do we select the pump now? Test every pump for true volume before we go further with any development. Thought this might help some DIY projects. Bob
