Re: [compost_tea] Growing fungi continued

Bob, I have no idea what it is and suspect it would be different for
different composts/humuses. The one I am looking at has long, white threads
with "bridges" over soil particles and thick, thick growth at the edges of
the container. Very hairy. It sure is beautiful when it collects a bit of
moisture. I will try and get some pictures if I can find the darn camera.

I am hoping, of course, that there are more than one type of fungus growing,
and if you look carefully, I bet you can spot many more. The test will be in
the testing of the tea I hope to brew up this weekend using some of this
stuff. I will report back, though I better check to seek if sending tea that
will arrive on Xmas day will suit SFI! I might have to wait until after the
new year.

It does make you wonder how anything that delicate could survive the roil of
a tea machine and better see why it would surely need something to cling to
grow......kelp etc?

I failed to note in the last email what I take to be the obvious: you need
to make sure whatever compost/humus in which you are trying to grow fungi
has good moisture content. Warm temperatures accelerate growth.
