100 mesh=149 microns
Someone correct me if im wrong, but I think that the
mesh is the amount of holes in one square inch. The
micron is the actual hole size.A problem we had in
aviation some years ago is when they came out with the
10 micron filters and the products that were supposed
to put new life in old engines that I cant recall the
names right now used teflon. The teflon was bigger
than 10 microns hole size in the filters and they
ended up clogging the filters so the airplanes had
engine failures. I believe I heard Elaine say that if
you had at least 180 micrometer hole size in the
filtering bags that most all of the diserable microbes
would pass that size. So some of the most popular bags
used 400 mesh hole size that corresponds to 37
microns? It gets pretty confusing. So I guess the
question of the day is how does micrometer correspond
to micron?
