Re: GBlist: washer/dryer-in-one

I used a combined washer dryer in Ireland for a year. I don't know the
brand. The problem was, you could stuff in lots of clothes if you're just
going to wash, but you can only put in about half as many if you're going
to wash and dry (or else it's too packed for the dryer to work in less than
hours).

So to get half a load of clothes washed and dryed took an hour and a half.
To do a weeks laundry this way would take all day!

What we (the 6 adults who lived in the house) all ended up doing was to
stuff it and wash as much as we could, then hang the clothes to dry. Then
we had half as many loads and only had to wait 45 minutes for them to wash
before putting in the next load. A whole week's worth of clothes could be
out on the line in a couple hours.

I don't think the dryer was worth the extra money. The only time we ever
used it was when we needed one particular garment dried quickly.
