Title: Applying the technology acceptance model to online education

Abstract: This study investigated the use of TAM in the investigation of student persistence and attrition in the community college environment. This two-year study proposed four research questions and six hypotheses. The study found support for the TAM's ability to predict the likelihood whether a student will persist and complete an online course. TAM also is applicable to both asynchronous and synchronous learning environments. The study found that there is a relationship between student satisfaction and attitudes towards accepting the technology, in this case online classes. However, in this study, TAM scores did not change significantly over the course of the study.
