Spaceship One Wins!

Congratulations to the people of Scaled Composites for winning the X-Prize!

Orbiter Space Sim

From the mind and hands of Dr.Martin Schweiger comes a FREE program to simulate orbital mechanics and rocketry. With his latest version extreme customization is possible with the programming of DLLs to interface with the software.

From the Meadville Space Center, in the heart of northwestern Pennsylvania, comes a series of add-ons for Orbiter that takes you back to the early days of the space race. You can experience the thrills of yesterday to understand the challenge of the future.

Earth 1962 05/06/06
All the 1962 tracking stations, and launch pads you want. This include the Mercury Tracking Network. textured Vandenburg AFB, Baikonur, LC 19 (Gemini-Titan), and LC 14 (Project Mercury) at the Cape. This file is required to run all scenarios for the historical rockets on this site. New version works properly with Orbiter 2006.

V2 & Bumper-WAC Rocket 4.0 (10/08/05)
The V2 was used during World War II and for upper atmospheric studies at White Stand during the late 40's. The Bumper used for upper atmospheric studies at White Stand and Cape Canaveral during the late 40's and early 50's. It was an example of an early staged rocket with a V2 first stage and a WAC Corporal for the upper stage. *SOME SCENARIOS REQUIRES EARTH 1962

Project Mercury 5.0 (01/16/05)
United State's first manned space program. Includes both Redstone rocket for sub-orbital flights and Atlas for orbital flights. This release features accurate panels, simulation of the capsule's systems, historically accurate scenarios, checklists, full range of sound, failure modes, and capsule recovery. *SOME SCENARIOS REQUIRES EARTH 1962

Project Mercury Documentation Update (01/17/05)
Fixed issues with the page layout in the Mercury Capsule Checklists pdf.

Project Mercury 5.0 Source Code (01/16/05)
The code behind the mercury model including all bitmaps. Uses Visual C++ 6.0, OpenGL, OrbiterSound SDK, and Orbiter SDK.

Atlantis Space Shuttle with MMU, RMS, and Satellite Deployment (11/06/03)
This module is now included in Orbiter thanks to Dr. Martin Schweiger. The excellent Atlantis module has the ability to use the MMU for EVA, use of the RMS, and to configure a Atlantis scenario with the ability to launch the satellite of choice. Also you can grapple and position your satellite payload with the RMS and jettison it at the location the arm places it. Now has the ability to grapple, release, and stow satellites.

X20 Titan 3C 2.0
The X-20 Dynasoar was the first manned spacecraft to reach the hardware stage. Built by USAF as the successor to the X-15 it was scrapped in favor of Blue Gemini and the Manned Orbiting Laboratory. *SOME SCENARIOS REQUIRES EARTH 1962

Gemini Titan 4.5 (10/23/2005)
The forgotten manned program of the United States. However without the expertise and skills developed during Gemini, Apollo would have never made it to the moon. This includes Gemini III, IV, and VIII and EVA capabilities. This version includes Virtual Cockpit, working ADI ball, and attitude mode. *SOME SCENARIOS REQUIRES EARTH 1962

Common Addon 1.0 (07/06/03)
This is for the use for add-on developers to allow rich communication between vessels and between add-ons (like MFDs) and vessels.

Pioneer 3/4 Juno II 2.0
United State's first moon shot launched by Werner Von Braun using a uprated Jupiter-C called the Juno II.
Authored by Jim Williams, and Brad Hodges

Vanguard 1.0
America's answer to Sputnik exploded on the launch pad Dec 6th 1957. But finally on March 17th 1958 Vanguard 1 made it into orbit. The satellite remains in orbit to this day and is expected to continue for another 1,000 years.
