Magnolia Plantation Birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.

April 13, 2003

61 species were seen and or heard on a very nice day.  The most interesting
were; 6 Pied-billed Grebes, 50 Anhingas, 4 Great Blue Herons nest, 20 Great
Egrets, 2 Snowy Egrets, 4 Little Blue Herons, 12 Green Herons, 6
Black-crowned Night Herons, 1 Yellow-crowned Night Herons, 2 Wood Storks, 1
Hooded Mergansers, 1 Osprey, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 Soras
heard only, 4 Black-necked Stilts, 20 Least Terns, 2 Chimney Swifts, 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird, 6 Great-crested Flycatchers, 1 Eastern Kingbird,
1 Rough-winged Swallow, 4 Marsh Wrens heard only, 6 Cedar Waxwings, 4 Parula
Warblers, 12 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Prothonotary Warblers, 3 Common
Yellowthroats, 10 White-throated Sparrows, 3 Orchard Orioles, and 4 House
Finches.
