Since I don't get out in the field on a regular basis, I have been hesitant
to mention the lack of juncos this year. But now that Kate has noted it for
her neck of the woods, I will comment that two CBC scouting trips in the past
couple of weeks to Lake Benson in Raleigh have produced none at all and other
casual walks around Raleigh have produced less than ten this winter when to
my thinking there should be hundreds. In light of the mango and flycatcher
invasion, maybe migration has switched directions.
