Space on This Weekend's Hatteras Pelagic Trip

Dear Carolinabirders,

Just in case anyone is looking for something to do this weekend, we
still have room on a pelagic trip from Hatteras this weekend. The trip
is scheduled for Saturday with a weather date on Sunday. It is an all
day trip leaving at 0630, and the fee is $95/person. We had a good trip
here about two weeks ago where we saw over 300 Razorbills, a Sooty
Shearwater, a couple of kittiwakes and Red Phalaropes, and a Common
Murre, which had been discovered the previous day at Cape Point by
participant John Dole. We also saw thousands of gannets and gulls,
including many Lesser Black-backeds, one Glaucous, and one
GlaucousXHerring hybrid. While we did not see any Great Skuas, fulmars,
Dovekies or Manx Shearwaters, we have seen those species here on
February trips in past years. In addition to the birds that we saw on
the Feb. 3 trip, we also saw many Bottlenose Dolphins and over a dozen
Humpback Whales.

Persons wishing to go on this weekend's trip should show up at Oden's
Dock on the morning of the trip at 0600 with cash in hand. Please send
us an e-mail or give me a call at (252) 986-1363 so that we know to
expect you. I will also put a greeting on my voice mail at that number
Friday morning indicating whether or not the trip might be postponed
until Sunday. DO NOT e-mail me for that information. Call the above
phone number.

I hope to see some more of you on this weekend's trip.

Thanks,
