Ivar's worst and best web site picks
Good: www.mtv.com
Hands down, I think this is a really good site. Whether you like MTV or
not this page is intriguing and gives a lot of info about what's going on
in the music scene worldwide. At times the site actually takes a
serious newsy approach to reporting current music news. The site has a
menu that is easily navigable as well as visually appealing. I also like
that the home page has a strong sense of space; some pages tend to
overcrowd with too much text and graphics. In addition, it has hands on
features like watching videos on the web site. The videos download
impressively fast. This is a fun site that offers so much to explore. It
is very much a source of information and I give it thumbs up for the sheer
volume of information available.
Bad: www.vh1.com
On the other hand, one of MTV's spin off station, VH1, has a pretty weak
web site. It really seems to offer a random assortment of information
that really has nothing to do with nothing. There is this annoying banner
at the top for CD Now and there is this other graphic at the top that says
rock across America and it keeps flashing and there are stars and
wings...I don't know, it's just too flashy. Anyhow, the page is
organized poorly. The most important info, the stuff about music, is not
up top where is should be. Instead they advertise cheesy sweepstakes and
some VH1 on line music shop. The pictures which should attract visitors
are tiny thumbnails image that tend to get lost in the background. Is it
just me or does the page take an exceptionally long time to load. Also I
get the impression that a lot of the information is not very current.
that's all folks,
Ivar
