Good site Bad site
As an example of a good site I chose www.anandtech.com which is basically a hardware review and discussion BBS. The design is simple and loads up quickly. The search engine shows up clearly on the opening screen. Also when you go to a review article a navigation menu appears at the top of the screen allowing you to jump to any page of the article, which I find very usefull because I like to skip to the conclusion of many such articles.
For the bad site I chose www.firingsquad.com, which is basically the same type of web site as the one above, except with flashier graphics. Although it does have a handy tab navigation bar at the top, the fancier presentation takes more time to load and there is no search engine to be found. Also their article pages are not indexed so I heve to 4 or 5 slow loading pages to get to the conclusion of a review.
