The family of Doris Lohr Mabe Wood, 80, would like to celebrate her peaceful passing on March 24, 2007 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Doris was a homemaker and proud of her years of service as a school bus driver for the City of Chesapeake, VA. Doris was twice widowed; widow of James Lee Wood and previously of James Roy Mabe.
Doris was born to the late Hubert D. Lohr and Bercella Heilig Lohr of High Point. She was preceded in death by her son, Skeeter L. Wood; two sisters, Mary McCasland and Margaret Skeeters; and two brothers, Dale and David Lohr.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Blount and her husband Donald, of Virginia Beach; two sons, Douglas L. Mabe and his wife Deborah, of Mebane, and James D. Wood and his wife Wendy of Gloucester, VA; as well as George Inscoe, her loving, devoted and caring companion, of Chapel Hill; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Rowe, Thomas Rowe and wife Belinda, Amy Mabe, Dana Harrison and husband Aron, Sarah Wood, Kayla Wood, Amber Wood and Taylor Wood; four great grandchildren, Corbin and Brysen Harrison, Haley Lap and Thomas Rowe; one sister, Judy Johns; and seven brothers, Jack, Donald, Kenneth, William, Earl, Larry and Garland Lohr; and also her loving and caring friend, Robin Wood Copeland.
Visitation was Tuesday evening, March 27, at Walker’s Funeral Home, and funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church, Wednesday, March 28, Burial followed at 1:00 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro.
