Smoke from distant fire

Smoke from the South Georgia wildfires moved to the area on Wednesday, causing a slight haze and smoke smell.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, a smoke plume from wildfires in parts of southeast Georgia and northern Florida spread across central North Carolina early Wednesday. According to county officials, the 911 communications center received multiple calls to investigate the smell of smoke.
